In a momentous step towards fostering environmental stewardship from grassroots level, Coaching Conservation has reached an agreement on a 5-year MOU to extend it’s reach to encompass all primary schools across the expansive North-West region of Ngamiland. This landmark partnership underscores a shared commitment to instilling ecological awareness and responsibility among the youngest members of the community. It is especially important in a region that is rich in wildlife and is the base of Botswana’s tourism sector. Through CC’s “Learning from Wildlife” model and learning through play sessions, the program endeavours to inspire a generation of kids who care about themselves, others and the environment.
Coaching Conservation aims to cultivate a culture of environmental awareness that resonates across communities and generations. Through engaging play based activities, field trips and collaborative projects, students will not only deepen their understanding of local ecosystems but also develop a profound sense of connection and ownership towards their environment. This partnership with the Ministry signifies a pivotal moment in the journey towards sustainable development, where education emerges as a powerful catalyst for positive change, shaping a future where ecological harmony and human well-being intertwine seamlessly.
Through this partnership, CC is committed to reaching more than 15,000 students annually in Botswana, north west region. Since the signing of the MOU , CC has committed to host sensitization workshops for the 3 education sub regions under the north west region; Maun, Gumare and Shakawe to help the school headteachers and teachers understand the mandate of the program and how it links to the school curricula. In the first of the 3 workshops, teachers have appreciated the CC program, and the value it adds to the school curriculum and the students.
