Mission

Wild Entrust International’s mission is to support the sustained conservation and management of wildlife and wildlife habitats around the world. We include in our mission support for research focusing on or pertaining to:

  • the behavior and ecology of threatened and endangered large carnivore species
  • the effect of human development on wildlife species and their habitats
  • the impact of management and development policies and activities relating to these areas

WEI is also committed to supporting general education as it relates to our mission, and educational processes that bring about enduring change toward a sustainable future for wildlife and other natural resources.

Today, the future of most large carnivore species is threatened by ecosystem degradation, conflict with human, persecution, habitat loss, and a general lack of knowledge. As human populations expand around the world, so too does the interface with the remaining free-ranging wildlife and wildlife areas. Large predators are being systematically eradicated by ranchers, cattle farmers and other rural human enterprises. For many large carnivore species only a few viable populations remain.

Goals

  • To promote the sustainability of threatened and endangered carnivore species and their habitats around the world through research, education programs and management initiatives.
  • To support initiatives and management options that find sustainable solutions to protect threatened carnivore species in their natural habitats and ecosystems.
  • To conserve wildlife and associated wild habitats.

Objectives

Wild Entrust International intends to support research and conservation initiatives for as many threatened large carnivore species as possible. We especially emphasize and support long-term, longitudinal studies of free-ranging species threatened with extinction in their natural habitats.

Programs that Wild Entrust supports are driven by professional and academic design and carried out by qualified scientists and wildlife managers. Programs that include field research on behavioral ecology of threatened free-ranging large carnivores, development of management policy, and integrated human and wildlife landscape conservation, as well as applied programs of education and conservation outreach will be given preference.
